Tips On Drawing Feathered Wings by Raveruna Tips On Drawing Feathered Wings by Raveruna
This still gets favs but let me tell you: I will redo this soon!
Crappy handwriting included. :XD: I hope it helps at least a little. There are so many awesome wing-tutorials on dA, but they are all with a lot of text and anatomy-bricks right in the face. I wanted to give some tips that help immediately with actually drawing them, and maybe as a help for people who don't have the nerve to study anatomy :D

I've always been confused, do their front appendages fold like our hand can or do they rotate when they close their wings?

They can't rotate, no.As far as I know, the wing-hand is able to do the same movements as our hands (since the bones are theoretical the same
(here, right on the beginning, is a nice comparison of the two: wotansvogel.deviantart.com/art…

This will come in handy because Feathered Wings are hard to draw at times.

Very nice! I learned something again, how the wing folds!

A great guide that needs to be done is proper gryphon feet!

Hmm I always see gryphons with either pure avian or pure feline feet.. I never saw someone else drawing it like me, trying to mix the two :XD:

There's a first for everything. What would really help would be to see how the structure of the foot is drawn, as that is where I think most if us have the most problems with.

It's a great fast tutorial indeed!
However, you might want to change the German words for the parts of the arm on the left into English. xD
